babies nest.
i knew i was not going to be putting the baby down the hall from the beginning, and i knew i wasn't going to spend a lot of money creating a space either. i luckily scored the mini cot/crib second hand, and it fit perfectly next to my new side of the bed. michael made the house shelf and i painted it. the doll and the little bird that matches her overlooking the crib were made by the lovely sara, and i have had them both since living back on maui (they represent a few of my favorite things). the vintage pillow case i picked up years back while in a antique shop near my parents cabin for fifty cents, it randomly floats around the house. oh and those special crochet sparrows were recently crafted by one of my dearest aussie friends who nearly melted when i told her where i put them. i did have the thick cable knit blanket made especially for this little one. it's organic cotton and bamboo and sort of perfect for melbourne evenings by the beach with a newborn.
i am enjoying coming up the stairs and seeing our simple little nest filled with familiar things,
it suits me.

DeleteSo lovely. I even stopped breathing for a few seconds! And personally I think that this is where babes need to be too...right next to their mamas :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I were tiny enough to snuggle in that cot.
ReplyDeleteYou've created a beautiful space for your little one Kristi. I love the colours and the softness you've created and that blanket is gorgeous. x
ReplyDeletePerfection. Love your style. I've had plans to make that same little shelf for my girl's room as well. The interior designer in me would love to see more vignettes of your spaces!
ReplyDeleteWould love to know where you sourced the beautiful blanket? That book is divine Kristi, yet to start the nesting but am quite inspired. Xx

Deleteit is incredibly soft. x
Thanks Kristi. I have the romantic notion of beach cuddles with my newborn under a rug just like that. In reality will likely be me chasing unruly toddler and poor beautiful blanket sprawled out on sand as I run...xx

ReplyDeleteOh, my! I have been too much time far from here and now I'm coming to discover you are expecting a new baby arriving in december... just like us!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel suddenly connected, I have two girls and don't know what is coming, maybe a boy? You have two boys and are waiting for a girl? :)
Congrats!! And I love the place you arrange for the bebay, The only thing i did was washing old baby clothes from her sisters... but i can feel the nesting now :)
congratulations. Xx
Deleteps. were not waiting on a girl, just our little baby, whomever that will be.
I know, but, maybe ours is a boy and yours a girl ;)
DeleteLet's see in december
Perfect little nook for your sweet baby. ADORE!
ReplyDeleteThe next few months are going to seem so long, but will pass by so quickly. What a beautiful niche for your loved baby to settle into--the place he/she was meant to be. The miracle of life always takes my breath away, XOXO
