babies nest.

i knew i was not going to be putting the baby down the hall from the beginning, and i knew i wasn't going to spend a lot of money creating a space either. i luckily scored the mini cot/crib second hand, and it fit perfectly next to my new side of the bed. michael made the house shelf and i painted it. the doll and the little bird that matches her overlooking the crib were made by the lovely sara, and i have had them both since living back on maui (they represent a few of my favorite things). the vintage pillow case i picked up years back while in a antique shop near my parents cabin for fifty cents, it randomly floats around the house. oh and those special crochet sparrows were recently crafted by one of my dearest aussie friends who nearly melted when i told her where i put them. i did have the thick cable knit blanket made especially for this little one. it's organic cotton and bamboo and sort of perfect for melbourne evenings by the beach with a newborn.

i am enjoying coming up the stairs and seeing our simple little nest filled with familiar things,
it suits me.

  9. What a great crib, and such a perfect space! Everything looks really lovely. Even though we have a teeny room right next to our bedroom for the nursery, we've already decided our little one will be in the bassinet right by our bedside too..x

    2. Thanks Kristi. I have the romantic notion of beach cuddles with my newborn under a rug just like that. In reality will likely be me chasing unruly toddler and poor beautiful blanket sprawled out on sand as I run...xx

I feel suddenly connected, I have two girls and don't know what is coming, maybe a boy? You have two boys and are waiting for a girl? :)

Congrats!! And I love the place you arrange for the bebay, The only thing i did was washing old baby clothes from her sisters... but i can feel the nesting now :)
